If you came here expecting me to talk about some deep stuff, I apologize for disappointing you because in fact, this post is going be about all the random, aesthetic things that have been crossing my mind in the past few days.
Maybe I have nothing going on in my life but…
I’ve just been really inspired, and whenever I’m just excited about everything, I write a long list in my beaten Moleskine. So taken directly from my journal, here are the things I’ve been thinking about and thus inspired by lately.
Glowing skin and bushy brows!
I’ve always been a fan of this duo but with spring in full swing (call me a poet), I’ve been seeing more and more of the combination on Instagram and I’m all for it. Very Glossier-esque, and while they are really making their way to norm core, I’m not mad about it. Like, at all.
This Is America by Childish Gambino
It’s no secret that Childish is a creative genius BUT THIS MUSIC VIDEO AND THIS SONG is unreal. The music video especially is such a powerful platform to spread the message of gun violence and I’m just in awe at the way he is able to expand the movement beyond Twitter hashtags and Instagram posts.
Pink + Red
I know it a “fashion faux-paus” to mesh navy and black, and red and pink together, but I was born rebellious so who gives a damn. Besides, the combination is unexpected yet works surprisingly well together so what’s the harm?
I have no idea how I discovered her on Instagram but bless that force because Summer has the most inspiring and aesthetically pleasing photos that just scream spring. She’s got a really cool and eclectic style that I 100% appreciate and with all the colors that she’s been spewing onto my feed, I’m feeling completely inspired.
I’ve always been a fan of a pop of color here, a pop of texture there, but as of late I’ve been really drawn to bright shadows scrawled onto lids and glitter nails. Speaking of, my nails are silver glitter and I’m very happy about it, but I digress. I think a lot of people are really intimidated by donning a bright blue eyeshadow look or a magenta lip but really, it pulls any look together and with moderation, looks more artful than crazy.
Liza Koshy for Vogue at the Met Gala
I spent a full hour yesterday afternoon watching Liza Koshy interview celebrities at the Met Gala from Cole Sprouse to Solange and I can easily say, that was time well spent. With a few exceptions, I was in awe at how down-to-earth and casual a lot of the celebrities were and come on, the looks were insanity.
Chanel Resort ’19
I’m not too thrilled with Karl Lagerfeld’s undeniable misogyny thing he’s got going on, but I am thrilled with the newest collection; I mean, the tweed berets! The pastels! The iconic tweed! The glitter, the sequins! We’re really going for maximalism here, and Chanel my friend, has served it on a silver platter.
and that, is all you need to be inspired for spring.
