August 2016 Favorites

beauty & style, the extras, Uncategorized

It feels so weird to even type the title of this post as it feels like just yesterday I uploaded my July Favorites — cliche I know. I give you all a moment to just roll your eyes and sigh. But am I the only one who thought August flew by? The saddest thing though, is that I feel like I wasted an entire month doing nothing, really. But I guess things are going to change with the fact that I start school in a few days.

On the bright side, I’ve got tons of new things that I’ve been loving this month and I’m so excited to share with you all, so let’s get to it!

MAC MSF in “Cheeky Bronze”

I already did a post on my current favorite highlighters as this was featured in that but I love it so much I wanted to just carve out a chunk of this post just to praise it a little more. It’s not only a highlighter though, it’s also a blush thanks to the pinky undertones so it makes getting ready in the morning much faster – which we can all use. I see you. And! The powder is SO finely milled, it doesn’t even feel like you are wearing powder, which usually draws me away from a lot of products. A+ from me.

Benefit High Beam

Ever since I started discovering the wonders of the beauty world from a young age, I would see this product everywhere. I’m talking Sephora, Youtube, Instagram, the works! But my intuition always told me to not even swatch it because it was too pearlescent or white for my skin. My sister bought a tiny 3-pack of all the Benefit highlighters so I tried out High Beam and turns out, I was wrong all these years, which is upsetting because imagine the glow I could have had! Ugh. I think this highlighter is not only easy, quick, and blendable, it’s also very natural and gives off an angelic vibe. Who doesn’t want that? C’mon people!

Sunday Riley UFO Oil

So I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz around this product lately and I shook it off like it was no big deal. Well let me tell you, it’s a big deal! It’s very VERY pricey hence why I haven’t even purchased the bottle yet, and I’m being a total cheapie. However, it’s so good I’ve been asking for a sample at Sephora every time I step foot in there. I currently have like five samples of the oil that should last me at least six weeks – I’m ridiculous I know. But I wouldn’t chide someone for spending the whole $80 on the oil, as I know how beneficial it is! It clears all your pimples and clogged pores significantly. No joke, I saw results after one night. It does smell like oregano and herbs though, just saying.

American Crew Moisturizing Shampoo

A month ago I chopped my hair even more so my locks would graze my shoulders, but in order to compensate for the lack of length my hair had, I needed texture, so I switched up my shampoo to this and haven’t looked back since. It’s moisturizing enough that I can pass on conditioner but adds the right amount of texture and volume needed. It’s available at the drugstore too and a little goes a long way so it’s definitely worth checking out the next time you hit up the supermarket/drugstore.

Stranger Things – Netflix

After hearing about Stranger Things for what seemed like months, I decided to give it a go. To be honest, I thought the whole concept was stupid before I even looked into it but I promise you, from the second you click “play” you WILL be sucked into the show. Good thing it’s only 8 episodes considering the fact that my sister and I spent a solid 8 hours watching the show without moving. No regrets, let me tell you that! It’s seriously the best thing on Netflix. The characters are portrayed so vividly you feel as though you connect with them on a deeper level and the plot and the way everything falls together is absolutely genius. And it really gets you thinking too, I swear, after I finished, I went through all the analyses possible. I was addicted and I’m beyond excited for season 2!

16 Candles

Although I hate those sappy and corny kind of romance movies, somehow I’m obsessed with 90s/80s movies even though the endings are beyond predictable. But I always saw the ad for 16 Candles on Netflix but never cared enough to click on it but I did and I love the movie! It’s definitely very much a chick flick but it’s a fun end of the summer movie to dive into if you’re feeling it. Pretty basic, but that’s alright.

Follow me on Soundcloud and Spotify to see what music I’m digging constantly! It’s a lot more updated than these songs, but these are my favorites 🙂

The Life of Pablo Album – Kanye West

Kanye West’s newest album is straight up fire, I’m telling you. I’ve been listening to it on repeat more than usual and it simply gets better every. darn. time. And the best part is though, I’M SEEING HIM PLAY ON OCTOBER 2ND!! I’m attending The Meadows music festival where Kanye and a bunch of other amazing artists will be playing and I can’t even contain my excitement. I know a lot of you enjoyed my Panorama Music Festival recap so if you guys are interested, I could post one on The Meadows?? Anywho, my favorite songs from this album are Famous, Father Stretch My Hands Pt.1, Waves, FML, Wolves, and Saint Pablo. So good!

Into You Remix Ft. Mac Miller – Ariana Grande

Kendrick Lamar X Flume – Swimming Pools X You And Me

feeling alright ft. Vi – Dapurr

Technicolour Beat/King Kunta — FLEUR MCLACHLAN

This Girl Ft. M. Maggie – MUTO

Landslide – Oh Wonder (literally makes me cry, I don’t know why)

Did I – Kehlani

Gemini Feed – Banks

Drop the Game – Flume & Chet Faker

Happy September 🙂
