According to a Buzzfeed quiz I recently took, I’m a healthy guru; that’s when you know. Just kidding, I may not be a top-notch nutritionist but I definitely know a thing or two when it comes to health and well-being. Out of everyone, I probably know how hard it is to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I’ve recently fallen off track; once important things to me like a healthy diet, exercise, and taking care of my body and mind was erased from my mind for a solid two weeks. And it’s time to get back on track. It’s not gonna be easy, but there’s something called baby steps. Here are my top five simple, efficient, and quick tips to reveal a healthier you.
PSA: Don’t mind that scar…I fell off the treadmill 3 years ago.
T H E T I P S
Pretty much a given but drinking a sufficient amount of water everyday seems like something almost everyone struggles with. It’s important to drink enough water (I drink 3 liters) to detox your liver and flush out toxins to promote healthy weight loss, clear skin, and increased overall health.
Get 15+ Minutes of Exercise Everyday
“I don’t have time” is an excuse I hear over and over again when it comes to working out. While an hour workout may be more effective than a 15 minute one, those 15 minutes can do wonders for your body. And honestly, who doesn’t have 15 minutes? If you “don’t” then you can do squats in the shower or calf raises while brushing your teeth. THERE ARE NO EXCUSES.
It seems to me that every holistic expert just raves about the benefits of dry-body brushing. After taking it on maybe two years ago (???), I can tell you first-hand that there really are a ton of benefits. It promotes blood flow, lymphatic drainage, exfoliation, and even works with tightening and toning all over.
Take Your Supplements and Vitamins
I’ve talked about this before but I’ll say it again: take your goddamn vitamins!! No matter how healthy you eat, there will most likely be some sort of deficiency due to a lack of a certain vitamin or such. Vitamins and supplements are a great way to compensate for the shortage of a certain substance.
It’s kinda hard for me to meditate because I’m constantly thinking about something but that’s the beauty of meditation. As simple as it seems to just sit and not think about anything, it’s pretty hard. However, after meditation you feel relaxed and energized; sorta like a new person. It’s kinda a brain workout, if you will. I always try to take about 5 minutes out of my day to sit and listen to soothing music and focusing on my breathing. It definitely helps with my sometimes pissiness so I highly recommend meditation.
I told you, there are no excuses.
